(Chief Industry Disrupter helping women in sports, entertainment, and media build their own seat at the table)

Let me introduce you to a woman who does not wait for permission, she builds the room herself. Brandee J.

Brandee is the founder of J Entertainment & Media Group, the parent company behind J. Impact Agency and the No Permission Needed podcast. She has spent her career doing what most people talk about and never do: seeing a gap where women, especially women of color, were being overlooked in sports, entertainment, and media, and just building the infrastructure herself instead of waiting for someone to hand it to her.

She launched NYFW+ because plus-size women deserved to be on fashion's biggest stage, not just in the audience. She built Luxe Kurves Magazine because curvy women of color deserved luxury representation, not apologies. And when she saw the same pattern playing out for women in sports, she did it again.

Now let's get into it.

Bizz Bitch Asks, Brandee Answers

Q: For the women just finding you, what do you actually do?

J Entertainment & Media Group is a media and entertainment ecosystem built to disrupt the spaces where women have been underrepresented, overlooked, and underestimated in sports, entertainment, and culture. We help ambitious women athletes, executives, creatives, and entrepreneurs step into their full platform, build their brand, and command the rooms they've always deserved to be in.

Through strategic marketing, media production, podcast content, motivational speaking, and executive coaching, we don't just amplify voices, we build the infrastructure behind them. The transformation is women going from being in the audience to owning the stage. From being the story someone else tells to being the one with the mic, the brand, and the business behind it.

Q: What sparked this business for you? What was the moment it clicked?

"Honestly? I got tired. Tired of being told what a woman should look like to be on a magazine cover. Tired of watching talented women athletes pour everything into their craft while the industry poured nothing back into them. Tired of systems that were built without us, and then had the audacity to tell us we didn't fit.

So I stopped waiting for an invitation and started building the room. I created NYFW+ because plus-size women deserved to exist at fashion's biggest stage, not in the audience, on it. I launched Luxe Kurves Magazine because curvy women of color deserved luxury representation, not apologies. I built platforms, produced events, and told stories that the industry kept ignoring. And when I saw women in sports being overlooked the same way, I did it again."

Q: What makes your approach different? What do your clients experience?

"I don't wait. I never have. While others are networking their way toward a seat at the table, I'm building a whole new one. I don't ask for access, I create it. I don't knock politely, I break the door down if I have to.

My secret sauce is urgency mixed with audacity. I see the gap, I move, and I figure it out as I go, because waiting for perfect conditions is just a dressed-up version of giving up. I've launched magazines, fashion events, podcasts, and a full agency, not because someone gave me permission or resources, but because I decided it was time. That energy is what I bring to every client. We don't wait for the industry to make room for women. We make the industry irrelevant and build our own."

Q: Give us a client story that really stands out.

"Cali War will always be the one I point to, not because it was easy, but because it was everything but. No budget. Limited resources. And honestly, a level of disrespect that would have made most people walk away. I stayed anyway, because the women on that team deserved better than what they were getting, and I knew I could deliver it.

In 60 to 90 days we rebuilt their brand from the ground up. New website. Brand direction. Media placements. Social growth over 120 percent. Brand deals with Omni LA Hotel, Pendry San Diego, and Universal Studios Hollywood. A first-ever NIL partnership. And an official City of San Diego Proclamation. They got results most funded agencies can't promise, and we did it with nothing but strategy, relationships, and relentless execution."

Q: What's a truth about your industry more people need to hear?

"We need more women of color at the seat of the table. Whatever assumptions exist about what a woman from San Diego who looks like me can build in sports, entertainment, and media, we're dismantling them one client, one deal, and one episode at a time. The work speaks. I let it."

Q: Why is community such a big part of your story?

"Community means showing up unapologetically and being met with open arms, not judgment. Real community isn't just people who celebrate you when things are going well. It's the people who hold space for you when you're falling apart, questioning everything, and finding your way back to yourself. It's a room where you don't have to perform or shrink or explain yourself.

I used to think I could do it all alone. This last chapter taught me otherwise. Biz besties aren't a luxury, they're a lifeline. I have two people in my life who did exactly that. They didn't let me fail. They held the vision for me until I could hold it again myself. Every entrepreneur needs that. I'm living proof."

Q: What are you building right now that you're most excited about?

"Everything. New clients who are aligned. New partnerships that are built on mutual respect and shared vision. New opportunities that actually fit who I am and where I'm going. But honestly, what excites me most is what I'm letting go of. The clients, situations, and relationships that were never really aligned with my purpose. Releasing those created space for something bigger. Right now I'm stepping into a joint venture that is going to change the entire trajectory of this company."

Q: Give us a few fun facts because we love a multi-dimensional queen.

"I'm a true survivor of abuse but never let it stop me or be the end of my story. It's the beginning."

🖤 From Bizz Bitch

This is exactly what we mean when we say connection over networking.

Brandee isn't waiting for the industry to make room. She's building the room, the stage, and the mic, and handing them to the women who were told to sit down and wait their turn.

That's the kind of energy we build here.
